With reference to the theory of modal verbs in apodosis, the position of If conditional’ s clause and conditionals’ categories proposed by Leech and Svartvik, this paper attempts to study the Similarities and differences of If conditional used by the British men and women in one of BNC written corpus and explains the results from the perspective of gender. This study shows the specific linguistic features of If conditionals used by both British men and women, which can shed light on the study of the usage of If conditionals on the part of the English language learners.
