《一九八四》展示了国家权力直接以群体的自然生命为治理对象,在对其实施了政治管制技术之后所可能呈现的恐怖图景。结合阿甘本有关形式生命的生命政治学观点分析奥威尔在小说中书写的生命类型,本文认为:奥威尔在小说中主要叙述了温斯顿的政治生命和他所期望的无产者的生物生命(或说自然生命)这两种生命形式;大洋国治理技术的目的在于以政治权力的逻辑任意捕获大众生命,并最终将其推向形式生命的境地;《一九八四》宣扬了政治生命是一种不值得活的生命,而无产者的生物生命作为未来社会的希望,则不可消除并终将获胜的观点。作者让温斯顿单方面相信政治生命必将被无产者的生物生命所取代的态度,反映出奥威尔在政治和人性立场上持有某种虚无乐观主义的立场。
Nineteen Eighty-Four shows the horrible view that may arise after the implementation of the political governance technique by state power directly on the natural life in the community.This paper, combined with Giorgio Agamben’s Biopolitics related to the form of life, analyzes the types of life written in Orwell’s novel. The main ideas of the paper are listed as follows. First, Orwell mainly describes two kinds of life in the novel, Winston's political life and the biological zoē (or natural life) of proletarians he expected. Second, the management technology of the Oceana is to capture the human lives with the logic of political power, and eventually to push them into the form of life. Third, Nineteen Eighty-Four advocates that political life is not worth living, but that as the hope of the future society, the biological zoē of proletarians cannot be eliminated and will ultimately win. The Author makes Winston unilaterally believe that the political life will be very likely to be replaced by the biological zoē of proletarians, which reflected that the Orwell held a nihilistic optimism in the position of political and human nature.
