Since the Mukden Incident to the end of the WWⅡ, the Japanese army captured a large number of Chinese soldiers. In order to make use of the labor forces of Chinese POWs (prisoners of war), the Japanese army set up several prison camps in order to imprisoned, trained, transformed Chinese POWs. Japan didn’t recognize the political status of Chinese POW, so the Chinese POWs did not enjoy the rights stipulated by the international law. In the POWs camps managed by the Japanese, Chinese POWs are subjected to hunger, cold, torture and forced labor. The Japanese tried to transform the Chinese POW from “defenders” to “collaborators”. In the POW camp, Chinese POWs suffered both physical and mental tortures.
