As Canada is an important economic partner in the Belt and Road Initiative, it is crucial to understand the cognition of its mainstream media when it comes to the issue. The study analyses the relevant reports in the Globe and Mail from September 2013 to July 2017 in terms of report total amount, major topics, use of words, main content, viewpoints and attitudes, then presents the interpretation and cognition of the Belt and Road Initiative in Canadian mainstream media and finally proposes a few suggestions in aim of promoting bilateral cooperation and mutual understanding between China and Canada.
